Our parental community at trivago is growing by the month and this past year we’ve carefully reviewed our existing benefits to see what we could do to support them both at work and in their family life. Here’s a quick overview of the benefits we offer parents at trivago!
Self-Determined Holidays & Flexible Work Hours
This benefit is not solely for parents as all of our talents can determine their own holidays and working hours, however, it definitely helps when you’ve got more than just yourself to look after. We trust that you can manage your own productivity and as long as your performance or collaboration with your team are not affected, you are free to determine your own working hours and holidays beyond the contractual minimum of 25 days of vacation.
Childcare Support with Notfallmamas
Notfallmamas (emergency moms) offers you digital child care service for when juggling parenthood and work just becomes too complicated. Do you have an important presentation lined up for the week? Notfallmamas will take over and ensure your child is well looked after so you can concentrate on acing your presentation! trivago covers 1 hour per week whenever you need it, which you can then top up yourself if you need more support.

Finding a Kindergarden is no easy feat, but we support parents with advice on how to use the KITA Navigator to find the best spot for your kids. We’ll answer all your questions about how to register, when to apply and how to choose the right one for your needs.
Information about Maternity & Parental Leave in Germany
When it comes to governmental support for childcare and primary caretakers, Germany is quite generous. trivago also offers full home office flexibility for up to 3 years after childbirth – this means you can work from home whenever you need to.
We are committed to ensuring a smooth process for our talents going on parental leave. We do what we can to ensure that talents can go on leave with peace of mind, keep in touch during their leave, and most importantly prepare them for a smooth return and reintegration to work. Learning Content Tailored to Family Life
Each talent has free access to our learning management system, Bridge, which offers various courses covering a variety of topics – including family-related matters such as Financial Wellness for Couples and Families, Balancing Work and Life as a Work-from-Home Parent, Supporting Your Kids’ Learning at Home and more. You can do these courses at your own pace and whenever it suits your busy schedule.
Discounts & Deals
All our talents have access to our corporate benefits platform, which offers various discounts and deals that range from travel discounts to special deals for baby & kids clothing, strollers and accessories. This could help you save up to 50% on family, home or travel expenses.
Parents Community on Slack
Our Parents@trivago and Parents-to-be Slack channels are active communities of trivago parents where they exchange tips, information or trade and sell items that their children don’t need anymore. As soon as you start at trivago, you can join these channels and get all the advice you need from fellow parents who’ve moved from abroad and had to settle into a new country in city.
Health & Fitness Support
trivago offers free access to a fitness app called Gymondo, which features 30+ online fitness programs & 300+ customized workouts – ideal for the busy parent on-the-go. On top of that moms-to-be can also attend free prenatal yoga classes at our campus on a weekly basis to help support them during their pregnancy. Due to the pandemic, these classes have been temporarily paused, but we aim to continue whenever it’s safe to do so.
As much as we like to bring our talents together at our quarterly company-wide events, we also aim to host as many family-friendly events to bring our trivago parents and their families together as well – from family Christmas parties, to Easter events in our Culture Kitchen canteen. Due to the pandemic, these events have been temporarily paused, but we are looking into alternative formats to hosting such events within the COVID-19 regulations.
We are constantly reviewing our benefits to accommodate our talents’ changing needs and strive to do what we can to empower our trivago parents to maintain the oh-so-necessary work-life balance. As we plan to go back to the office more regularly whenever lockdown allows it, we will also refocus on benefits that could support parents at the office, for example having a kids room.
