The effect of doing what you really like
Ammar Witwit is a Data Engineer at trivago. He joined us from Baghdad in 2014 and has had many different experiences in his 4 years here. He reached out to me recently in a very heartfelt email, asking if he could share his most recent, eye-opening experience yet on the company blog. I said, of course. And here it is!…
“Until very recently, I had always perceived trivago mainly as a tech and data-driven company, full of young people who like to party till late night 🙂 I attended many trivago on tours and enormous team events and all of them were great. However, it was one single trivago session which influenced me most: The life drawing event, that takes place in the creative format “Beehive”. I decided to join as I had been interested in drawing and art as a kid.
Considering that, obviously I am not a professional painter, nor have I had any previous experience in drawing a nude life-model before, obviously I felt nervous in the beginning of the session. But once I felt all my senses becoming involved in the creative process, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience!
At the end of the session, as I started to become tired and the adrenaline was leaving my system, I realized that I had found what I really like to do alongside my established career.
It took me a while to discover this, but thanks to trivago now I know I should follow my passion. It is worth it!
